AI finance, pricing and accounting

AI finance, pricing and accounting is the work of accounting for, pricing and funding AI products, the compute behind them and finance operations run by agents. AI companies need it because their costs and revenue behave unlike those of ordinary software.

Usage-based and outcome-based pricing, heavy spend on GPUs and data centres, and agents that touch money are all landing on finance teams at once. Old playbooks only partly fit. The tricky part is that few people have done this before. Strong hires usually come from accounting, pricing or infrastructure finance, and they need to learn how inference cost, contracts and model behaviour shape the numbers. Some roles are hiring now. Others are still taking shape.
