Data engineering for AI
Data engineering for AI is the work of building dependable data foundations for models and the applications around them. AI companies need it because model quality, evaluation and product behaviour all depend on data that is traceable and fit for use.
More AI companies are moving from experiments to products that customers rely on. Weak data now shows up as poor model behaviour, unexplained evaluation results and shaky usage reporting. The hires are tricky because the titles blur. Strong candidates often come from data engineering, backend systems or analytics engineering, but few have worked on training workloads or lineage. Check what they have owned, not what they have touched.
