Agents and embodied systems

Multi-agent coordination and economics

Multi-agent coordination and economics covers the study and engineering of how AI agents work with, around and against each other. AI companies need it because systems of many agents fail in ways that no single agent shows on its own.

Teams are moving from one agent doing one job to several agents sharing tasks, state and tools. Coordination problems follow: duplicated work, conflicting actions, cascading errors. Hiring is tricky because the field is young and titles vary. Good candidates usually come from distributed systems, reinforcement learning, game theory or agent evaluation, and each brings a blind spot. Ask how they have tested interaction, not just individual agents. Also check they treat a group of agents as software, not as a legal or economic actor.
