Formal methods and reliable reasoning

Formal methods and reliable reasoning is the work of stating exactly what an AI system or its output must do, then checking that it does. AI companies need it when testing alone cannot give enough confidence.

AI systems now write code, proofs and plans that people cannot easily read line by line. Founders want stronger evidence than a good demo. The hires are tricky because the talent pool is small and mostly academic. A proof only covers its formal statement and assumptions, so a strong candidate will say what their checks do not cover, and will not oversell them.
