Sales AI Workflow Specialist
Also called AI Sales Enablement Specialist
A Sales AI Workflow Specialist designs and tests AI support for sales teams, with clear limits on what it can do. It helps sellers close more business while keeping what customers are told accurate and approved.
What they do
They map how sellers actually work, then pick the steps where AI can help, such as account research, call preparation, follow-up drafts and product matching. They build the workflow, set what it can access, and add review steps for anything a customer will read. They test outputs against real cases, check where the tool gets facts wrong, and sit with sellers to see what they use and ignore. They adjust prompts, retrieval sources and rules, and track results in the CRM and analytics tools. They also write down what the workflow should never do.
What a strong hire delivers
In the first months, a strong hire delivers one working sales workflow in live use, with clear permissions and a content-review step. They set out a test set and a simple scorecard for accuracy. Sellers can say what time or effort it saves. Managers can see where errors were caught, and the company has a short list of next candidates for AI support.
How you can tell they are good
Ask them to walk through a workflow they built or tested, from seller problem to controls to results. Strong people show how they measured accuracy and seller value, not just activity. Ask what they stopped the AI doing and why. Worry if they talk only about prompts, or cannot explain how they would catch a wrong claim reaching a customer.
Why it is hard to fill
The title barely exists yet. The work often sits inside sales operations, revenue analytics, marketing science or applied ML roles, so CVs rarely say it plainly. Candidates tend to be strong on one side: either they understand selling or they understand model behaviour. You need both, plus enough statistics to judge evidence. Most good people are doing this now under another name.
Where to find them
Look at commercial analysts, sales operations and enablement staff who have built AI features into their team's work. Ecommerce and marketing science people with experimentation experience are a good source, as are applied ML engineers who have worked close to a commercial team. Software companies, retailers, marketplaces and advertising businesses with large seller teams are the likeliest places.
Indicative pay
Not enough published evidence yet to give a fair range for this role, which is common for work this new. We benchmark it for you as part of a search.
Interview questions for a Sales AI Workflow Specialist
- Tell us about a sales workflow you built or improved with AI. What problem did sellers have, and what changed?
A strong answer names the seller problem, the steps changed, who used it and the measured result. Look for contact with real sellers. Worry if the story is about the technology with no evidence of adoption or outcome.
- How would you decide which parts of a sales process are safe to hand to AI support?
Good answers separate low-risk internal tasks from customer-facing content, and consider error cost, reversibility and review. They mention seller input. Worry about a blanket answer that automates everything or nothing.
